The wait is over. Nintendo has officially released their highly anticipated game Super Mario Run on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, marking the very first time we’ve ever seen Mario hit mobile devices.
The game is simple. It’s controlled with one hand and single and double taps on your screen to jump (one tap = jump, two taps = double jump), collect coins, and avoid obstacles. There’s various levels to complete alongside three different modes: World Tour, Toad Rally, and Kingdom, with each providing a different style of gameplay (World Tour gives players a classic Mario experience, Toad Rally grants users multiplayer access, and Kingdom allows players to create their very own playable course). You’ll always need an internet connection to play the game, while the app itself is free to download and limitedly play. For a one-time fee of $9.99, all levels and modes can then be unlocked.

*In order to play Toad Rally, you will need Rally Tickets that you can acquire in a variety of ways, such as clearing worlds or through bonus games in your kingdom.
■ Kingdom Builder
Gather coins and Toads to build your very own kingdom.Create your unique kingdom with buildings and decorations that you acquire with the help of Toads gathered in Toad Rally.
There are over 100 kinds of items in the Kingdom Builder feature!

Super Mario Run weighs in at 205MB, so I suggest jumping on a Wi-Fi network before downloading and playing. Currently, there’s no word on when the game will come to Android, but we’ll let you know when/if it does.
