Android Nougat Jumps Onto 0.1% More Devices in Latest Distribution Numbers

Google has once again released the latest distribution numbers of Android for the month of December, and they come as little surprise since Android 7.1.1 Nougat and the December security patch both became available today as well.

According to the data available, Android Nougat has jumped onto 0.1% more devices over last month, giving confirmation that v7.0 of the mobile OS is on 0.4% of all devices over 0.3% as indicated a month ago. This is thanks to more manufacturers sending out Nougat updates to their various updates such as Moto and LG. We’ve also to thank manufacturers for releasing new hardware running the latest software, particularly HTC who recently introduced the Nougat-powered Bolt. Of course, this increase isn’t anything major, but all of these factors will pay off over time.

For reference, Marshmallow jumped to 26.3% of devices over last month’s count of 24%, Lollipop dominates with presence on 34% of devices despite dropping from 34.1% over last month, KitKat is on 24% after being on 25.5% last month, Jelly Bean is on 12.8% over 13.7%, Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread are tied with each present on 1.2% of devices, and Froyo stubbornly remains on 0.1% of all Android devices.

Update: An earlier version of this article didn’t include the current Android distribution numbers. We have now included the full chart and apologize for any inconveniences caused.
