Yesterday, news broke that the second beta of iOS 10.2 was available for testing. However, the catch was that you needed a developer account in order to do so. This requirement has now been broken as Apple has made the latest build of the future update for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch available to those who have registered for the public beta program. This comes a week after the first beta was made available to the public.
In this new build of iOS 10.2, Apple preinstalls the recently announced TV app for trying out. In case you’re not familiar with this software, it basically connects to your Apple TV and streamlines content from various sources you have a subscription to in order to provide a more fluid experience and make discovering new content easier. There’s also a custom widget that accompanies the app to make jumping to recently streamed content quicker. This follows the already added changes like three new wallpapers featured on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus becoming available, a new widget for the Videos app, Unicode 9.0 emoji, a new ‘Celebration’ Messages effect, and more.

To install iOS 10.2 on your device, you must be a registered developer or public beta tester and already have your device activated to receive beta builds. If your device falls under these guidelines, head over to Settings > General > Software Update and you should see a listing for iOS 10.2 Beta 1. Just tap “Download and install” and you’ll be good to go. I do recommend jumping on a Wi-Fi network first alongside plugging in your device beforehand as a) you don’t want data overcharges on your bill and b) you don’t want your phone or tablet to die during the installation process.
