Yesterday, we reported that Samsung was halting all sales of it’s 2016 flagship the Galaxy Note 7 due to multiple reports of the handset catching fire. Even the supposed “repaired” models were suffering from this problem. However, the company was assumed to be still producing the phone in some form or fashion, but that wasn’t confirmed. Now, according to multiple reports across the web including one via The Verge, the Korean tech giant has officially permanently ended all production of the Note 7. This means that you’ll never be able to buy the handset again from Samsung themselves or carriers like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint who, by the way, all suspended sales before this occurrence.
Taking our customer’s safety as our highest priority, we have decided to halt sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7
If you have a Galaxy Note 7 right now (whether it’s a repaired or original model), you’re prompted to power it down and return the handset to the place of purchase. More information can be found here.
Overall, this is a really nasty turn of events for the Note 7. Not only was the reputation of Samsung’s latest phablet already ruined by it being recalled last month, but it’s now been broken beyond repair. It’s been proven that no one is safe with a Note 7 in their house, hence the company’s recall and cancellation of the product. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission appears to still be determining an exact cause of explosive Note 7s, but this won’t revive the handset. As far as us at MBEDDED are concerned, the Galaxy Note 7 is dead. In other words, long live the Galaxy S7.
