Google’s Nexus 9 LTE is Now Getting Android Nougat

Back when Android Nougat began rolling out to Nexus users, users of two certain devices began complaining that they weren’t receiving the upgrade. These devices, from 2014 and called the Nexus 6 and 9, didn’t begin receiving Android v7.0 over the air or via factory images like the rest of the Nexus line did. However, when the October security patch began hitting airwaves, the rollout of Android Nougat for the Nexus 6 also started. But up until now, the 9 still hasn’t received the upgrade OTA. Now, two days later, it appears that users of the LTE variant of the tablet are now getting the software update wirelessly. Android Police received this screenshot of one user’s Nexus 9 running Android Nougat.

Interestingly, the security patch the Nexus 9 is receiving with Android Nougat is the one labeled September 6th. Why this outdated patch is hitting the 9 instead of the most recent one (like the Nexus 6 is getting) is beyond me, but it shouldn’t bother many as there isn’t a large number of Google’s 2014 tablet.

Factory images of Nougat for the Nexus 9 aren’t live yet, however we’ll update this article when they become available.
