Twitter’s New App Lets You Watch NFL Games on Apple TV, Xbox One, and Amazon Fire TV

As reported a month ago, Twitter has begun rolling out a new app that allows users to watch live content on their TVs by ways of the Apple TV, Xbox One, and Amazon Fire TV. One function the app specifically serves is live streaming NFL games. A total of 10 will be aired via this app during the 2016 – 2017 NFL season, and since tomorrow kicks off Thursday Night Football (the night when these games will be streamed), now’s as good a time as ever to launch this new streaming platform.

Twitter today announced the launch of a new Twitter app for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Microsoft’s Xbox One, which will allow anyone with these devices to consume the best of Twitter.

Alongside these NFL games, other live content will also be streamed via this Twitter app like from the MLB, NBA, Bloomberg and more.

The free apps will feature all live streaming video available on Twitter (including live streams of 10 NFL Thursday Night Football games, as well as content from MLB Advanced Media, NBA, Pac 12 Networks, Campus Insiders, Cheddar and Bloomberg News), and other Twitter content such as top Tweets and top global Vines and Periscopes.

In addition, users don’t have to have either a cable subscription or Twitter account to enjoy this free content. All they have to do is download the app to their Apple TV 4, Xbox One, or Amazon Fire TV or TV Stick and start streaming.

Anyone with these devices, regardless of whether they have a Twitter account or a pay TV subscription, can enjoy this experience.

Anthony Noto, chief financial officer at Twitter, had this to say about the new apps.

“These devices will bring Twitter’s live streaming video experience to life on the TV screen,” said Anthony Noto, chief financial officer at Twitter. “Twitter has always been a great complement to TV, and now fans can enjoy even more premium video with live Tweets — and the best content on Twitter — right from their TVs. We’re excited to introduce this new experience to people, without requiring a paywall or having to log in to Twitter.”

Anyone in the world with an Apple TV fourth generation can download the Twitter app from the App Store, while those of you in AustraliaBrazilCanadaMexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States can get it on your Xbox One. If you’re in the UK or the US, you can also get the new app on your Fire TV, but note that these are the only two locations where this version of the app is available.
