Just under a week ago at IFA 2016, Lenovo unveiled their latest creation called the Yoga Book, a 2-in-1 that features two screens, with one displaying as a standard monitor and one doubling as the keyboard and touch pad. The device is confirmed to run Android and Windows 10 when it’s launched as two separate models, however some may say that Chrome OS could be a lot better on hardware like this. And as it appears now, Lenovo seems to agree.
In an interview with TechRadar, Matt Lazare, the Yoga Book Campaign Manager at Lenovo, sat down to answer a few questions, when one particular question arose: “Chrome OS feels like a good fit for the Yoga Book – especially with Android apps coming down the line. Is that coming soon?”
Here’s Lazare’s response.
I can tell you that Chrome OS is something that we’re thinking very seriously about, especially with the big upgrades coming down the road that will allow access to the Android app ecosystem. You should look for us to take this hardware platform in Yoga Book and make waves on that front. Obviously you’ll hear more about that down the road.
As you can see, it looks like Lenovo’s really thinking about bringing Chrome OS to the Yoga Book. In theory, this OS would suite the Book pretty nicely and bring a nice level of functionality. And with possible support for Android apps and the Play Store, the Yoga Book would surely benefit from such an OS much better than a skinned version of mobile Android.
Of course, only time will tell whether Lenovo actually turns their Yoga Book into a Chromebook, however we will bring you any updates we receive regarding the matter. For now, we’re just gonna have to sit back and wait.
