Today at IFA 2016 in Germany, ASUS unveiled to the world their latest smartwatch. Called the ZenWatch 3, this wearable comes loaded with Android Wear and sports a much classier design when compared to past ZenWatches.
For starters, the screen is now round, making the ZenWatch 3 feel a bit more like your average watch. Second, 316L stainless steel is used to build the Watch, so style and protection remain at large. Finally, interchangeable bands are present which you can purchase separately from the ZenWatch, so no matter what the occasion, you’ll always have something that fits your swag.
Three side buttons are present on the ZenWatch 3 which allow you to interact with the wearable more quickly and conveniently. For instance, you can “change the display mode” whenever you’d like while also having access to the ZenFit fitness app with the press of a button. It’s unclear whether these buttons are programmable or not, but I could see them being so since not everyone’s gonna want to launch a fitness app over something more conventional like Google Now or Hangouts.
On the inside of the ZenWatch 3, there’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor which will no doubt help you navigate your way through the Watch swiftly. A 1.39-inch AMOLED screen accompanies the chipset which features a resolution of 400×400, resulting in 287ppi. The patented ‘HyperCharge’ technology is also installed on the ZenWatch 3 which will allow users to charge their watches in very little time. All of these specs, features, and pieces of hardware are enclosed in a body that remains just 9.95mm in thickness.
229 euro, or roughly $250 USD, will be what you’ll have to pay for the ZenWatch 3. And while we don’t know when the device will be made available, we do know that it’ll come in Gunmetal, Silver, and Rose Gold. Over 50 watch faces will be present on the Watch, so this alongside all the various watch bands available will offer a nice customization system that will no doubt be met with much appreciation by buyers.
We’ll let you know when you can pick up your own ZenWatch 3 when it hits shelves in the future.
