Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition is Now Reality

Samsung has announced the latest custom Galaxy device, the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition. This smartphone was leaked almost two weeks ago by Evan Blass and appeared the same way it does now with blue and gold accents around the home button, ear piece, camera, and five ring Olympic logo on the rear alongside the red and green side buttons.

During the Rio 2016 Olympics, Samsung will give each participent a Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition to celebrate their accomplishment. In addition, each athlete will also be receiving Gear IconX earphones.

You may think this is an exclusive smartphone for Rio and Rio only, however you’d be wrong. Samsung has stated that starting July 18th, customers will be able to pick up this special edition Galaxy S7 Edge from Best Buy in the US alongside retailers in South Korea, Germany, and China. No pricing is known at this time, however expect it to cost somewhere around $800 since it’s so exclusive and will be sold in limited quantities.

To round off Samsung’s Olympic-sized efforts this year, the firm has also built the official Rio 2016 Olympics app for iOS, Android, and Windows which will allow you to view the official Olympic schedule, venue information, real-time event updates, and medal counts. You can download the app now.

This isn’t the only customized Galaxy smartphone to celebrate a special occasion this year.  Over a month ago, the company unveiled a special edition Batman-themed GS7 Edge to celebrate the third anniversary of the popular game Injustice: Gods Among Us which sported a stealthy black appearance and custom skin on top of TouchWiz.
