At their event today in New York City, Samsung has announced two new products to their active lineup, the Gear Fit 2 and IconX wireless earbuds. These devices are both built with fitness in mind and sync together with your Galaxy smartphone.
The Gear Fit 2 is the sequel to 2014’s Gear Fit with a few improvements here and there, like the fact that the curved smartwatch now runs the company’s Tizen OS. The band’s 1.5-inch AMOLED 216×432 display is running off of a dual-core 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM, while 4GB of space is available to store things such as music and fitness data. A built-in GPS is present to help with exercising outside without your phone, while a heart rate sensor will track your blood pressure and heart rate. The device’s 200mAh battery will, according to Samsung, get you through up to 3 to 4 days on a single charge and last up to 5 days in standby mode. $179 will be the price of the Gear Fit 2 when it’s released on June 10th.
Here’s a full list of all the specifications of the new Gear Fit 2.
Samsung’s new IconX wireless earbuds are called wireless earbuds for a reason: there’s no wires connecting them. That might sound obvious, but when you look at other company’s “wireless” earbuds, there’s usually a wire connecting the two earbuds so a) they don’t get lost and b) so they can function properly. However, these earbuds remain truly wireless and work over Bluetooth with your device.
4GB of memory is available inside the IconX earbuds so you can store music to listen to without your smartphone. In addition, touchless controls are also present for controlling that music. Basic fitness features such as tracking capabilities are built into these earbuds which sync with S Health to allow you to simply use your headphones to take a run or go for a walk. The battery inside these earbuds is measured in at 47mAh and can last 3.5 hours while listening to locally stored music and 1.5 hours while listening to streaming music via your phone. These headphones also come in a pill-shaped storage case which supply two additional charges to the earbuds. Pricing isn’t available yet, however you can expect these buds to launch during Q3 of 2016.
