Samsung Makes the Batman-Themed Galaxy S7 Edge Official

Samsung has made their new Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition smartphone official by releasing a YouTube video demonstrating the unboxing process of the handset alongside an official press release. In a partnership with Warner Bros., the company is celebrating the third anniversary of the popular game Injustice: Gods Among Us by building a custom GS7 Edge to giveaway and sell in select markets.

This new phone features a gold-plated Batman logo on the rear which shares the same color as the camera ring, flash, fingerprint sensor ring, and ear piece. The rest of the handset is colored black to make it stealthy like the Dark Knight himself and even comes with a special rubber case to keep your new collector’s item safe from drops and scratches. Cleverly, the case is designed like the Caped Crusader’s armor.

A custom skin on top of TouchWiz is also presented on the GS7 Edge Injustice Edition to match the color scheme and dark style of Batman complete with a custom dialer, icons, animations, wallpapers, and more.

This device was teased by Samsung via Twitter multiple times yesterday and a few days ago, however it was unclear just when the custom GS7 Edge would be unveiled. However since this hype was being built up, this announcement doesn’t really come as a surprise.

Other items which come with the Galaxy S7 Edge include a Samsung Gear VR headset (in select territories), $100 in Injustice game credit, Oculus VR content vouchers, and a real gold-plated Batarang (no, it’s not likely that you can catch bad guys and swing from buildings with this utility).

A statement released by Samsung states their excitement about the collaboration between them and one of the biggest studios in the world.

“We are excited to partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and offer a special edition of Galaxy S7 edge for fans of Injustice: Gods Among Us,” said Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung always seeks to provide the best mobile gaming experience for its users, and this partnership reinforces our commitment to the game’s fans.”

The Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition will be available for purchase this June (my guess is June 13th since that’s the date displayed on the phone pictured above), however only in select territories including China, Singapore, Korea, Latin America, Russia. More locations are to be announced, however, according to Samsung.
