Meizu has officially launchd the first flagship Ubuntu smartphone called the Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition. It’s unclear what market share Ubuntu takes up, however there must be some since this handset has been released.
This phone features a 5.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a Samsung Exynos 7420 oct-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM, a 21.16MP rear camera with a dual tone flash and a 5MP front camera, Hi-Fi Sound 2.0, a 3,050mAh battery, 32GB of expandable storage via microSD card, and a USB-C port which supports Quick Charge. All in all, this should prove to be a pleasant experience for any Ubuntu fan or a newbie to the ecosystem of Linux.
The Pro 5 is available from JD.com for $369 off-contract, which isn’t bad at all for a flagship handset, and comes in a gold finish.
