Google has updated it’s Calendar (on both iOS and Android) with some new features today, including Smart Suggestions and 54 new country-based holiday calendars.

Smart Suggestions recommend different event titles, locations, and contacts to invite based on the title you give an upcoming event. So say you made an event called “Jake’s birthday”; Google will remember that a similar event happend last year at Lynn’s house and that you invited Uncle Chris, Aunt Candace, Bobby, and Grace. Calendar will automatically suggest those types of details for you to add to your event, and once you tap them, they’re in. Of course, you can add them/more manually too.

Country-based holiday calendars are pretty self-explanatory, but they’re basically calendars with other country’s celebrated holidays marked on them. And since Google has added 54 new ones, you can now add up to 143 holiday calendars directly to your mobile calendar.

To add new calendars to yours:

  1. Open the Google Calendar app
  2. In the top left, touch the Menu icon > Settings > Holidays.
  3. Touch the name of the current country.
  4. Touch a new country to add it, or touch the currently selected country to remove it.
