Amazon Has Launched a New Kindle Fire HD 8 “Reader’s Edition”
Amazon today has launched a new version of their 8-inch Android-based Kindle Fire HD 8 tablet. They call it the “Kindle Fire HD 8 Reader’s Edition” because of the new features and software that’s built into the tablet that will please heavy book readers or anyone who likes to enjoy a good novel. Plus, it also comes with a bunch of promotions and extras that’ll appeal to the reader in all of us.
Hardware wise, there isn’t really anything different when compared to the original Kindle Fire HD 8: it’s got a 1200×800 HD display, quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 5MP rear camera and HD camera on the front, and is only 7.7mm thick. You also get 8GB of storage space built in, but you can expand the amount with an up to 128GB microSD card. But honestly, this version of Amazon’s tablet isn’t all about the hardware – it’s really about what the hardwares comes with.
This tablet comes with a free 1 year subscription to Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited plan (worth $120) which allows users to read and listen to any book they want whenever they want for an entire year. The tablet also comes with a pretty snazzy leather case, which resembles the Amazon Fire 7’s case, that Amazon says will mimic the feel of a real book for comfortable reading. Plus, the tablet has this feature called Blue Shade which will fix the display’s brightness, colors, and contrast to make it easier to read in dark environments such as your bed before you go to sleep, or any time after 5:00PM during this time of year.
Blue Shade is an exclusive Fire OS5 “Bellini” feature that works behind the scenes to automatically adjust and optimize the backlight for a more comfortable nighttime reading experience. Plus, it extends your battery life by up to 25% while reading at default Blue Shade brightness. Simply tap Blue Shade on the quick actions menu to turn on this feature and enjoy your favorite book, news article, app, or any other nighttime activity without straining your eyes.
Of course, you’re getting all of the normal Kindle stuff as well, like Bookerly Font, along with adjustable fonts, multi-colored highlights and access to Audible’s library of audiobooks, as well as Word Runner, to help you read faster while still understanding and appreciating everything on the page. Plus, it features Immersion Reading, which syncs the Kindle text with a companion Audible audiobook to track the words and pages, allowing you to read and listen simultaneously.
The tablet is available for preorder right now, and if you order yours right now, it’ll ship on December 9th, just two days away.
