Apple has seeded the 1st public beta of OS X 10.11.1 to all testers toady, roughly a week and a half before the final version of El Capitan will be released on the App Store. The first developer beta of this update for OS X 10.11 came out just 4 days ago.
The only change, besides support for Unicode 8, is the fact that Apple added new emojis, including a taco, burrito, cheese wedge, hot dog, middle finger, and unicorn head. These emojis also make an appearance in iOS 9.1 which is also in testing.
Besides the new emojis, there aren’t any visual changes made to the OS, which suggests that this update will just contain performance improvements and enhancements. According to Apple’s release notes, the beta offers stability, compatibility, and security improvements.
